Where to sell used goods in London

14 businesses in and around London that buy used goods from the public, or sell them on your behalf. For each one: what they buy, what they refuse, and exactly how the transaction works — because a pawn loan, a consignment split and an outright sale are three different things.

Verified 2026-09-24 from each business's own website. Prices, terms and what they take change without notice. We are not affiliated with any business listed here, none of them pay to be included, and we receive nothing if you sell to them.

What will they actually pay?

We do not publish an average payout, because nobody publishes one. Any site quoting you "typically 60% of retail" invented it. Across 189 businesses in fourteen cities, a handful publish a consignment split, one publishes a per-gram gold table, and not one pawn shop, scrap yard or electronics buyer publishes what it pays relative to resale value.

What we can tell you is the shape of it. Consignment pays the most and pays last, often on a declining scale as the item sits. An outright sale pays least and pays today. Metals and gold are weight times purity minus a spread nobody states, so the only real number is the one at the scale. And for a great deal of what comes out of a cleared house — flat-pack furniture, book-club paperbacks, old encyclopedias, out-of-season sports gear, adult clothing more than a few years old — the honest answer is that nobody in these fourteen cities will pay anything for it at all. The refusal lists below are the evidence.

Electronics buy-back in London

They pay cash or credit for working electronics, phones and games.

Game Cycle London Wharncliffe

Buys outright Bring it to them
BuysVideo games, Consoles, Gaming accessories, Movies
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealAn outright sale, with a choice of payment form — their site says 'Bring in your games, consoles, and movies for cash or store credit.' Cash and store credit are two different offers on the same item, so ask for both numbers before deciding. The site does not publish what it pays relative to resale value.
Where79 Wharncliffe Rd. S., London, ON
Store credit is only spendable in that shop. If you are clearing a house for money, ask specifically for the cash figure — the site does not state how the two offers compare.

Smart Fix London

Buys outright Bring it to them
BuysSmartphones, Laptops and computers, Tablets, Other consumer electronics
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealWalk-in outright purchase. Their buy-sell page describes it as: 'Walk in with your device — we inspect it on the spot, give you a fair cash offer, and pay you immediately.' The stated process is: bring the device in, 'We confirm value and wipe your device,' then 'You get paid.' They also state 'If you can find a better price, we'll match it.' No payout percentages are published.
Where89 Wharncliffe Rd N, London, ON N6H 2A7
Their site says they wipe the device as part of the transaction; sign out of your own accounts and remove device locks beforehand so nothing is left tied to you. Their price match is conditional on you finding a better price elsewhere.

Consignment stores in London

They sell it for you and keep a share. More money than an outright sale, but you wait for it, and you get nothing if it does not sell.

ReDecor Consignment

Consignment Bring it to them
BuysUpscale used furniture, Home decor and home accents
Won't takeItems with cracks, chips, stains, holes, rips or tears, Dirty, dusty or mouldy items, Anything with odours, particularly animal or smoke, Items with hair on them
The dealConsignment, not a purchase — you get nothing until the item sells. Their commission page states: 'you will receive 50% of the final selling price less a small buyers fee which is added to the price of all items.' The display period is 60 days with one price reduction: 'On day 35 – item is discounted 15%.' Large furniture is assessed from photos first — they ask for dimensions, manufacturer, age and original price if known. They accept 'up to 10 home accents at a time.' Drop-offs run Wednesday to Saturday during business hours, by appointment.
Where1055 Sarnia Rd, London, ON N6H 5J9
Money only arrives if and when the piece sells, and the price drops 15% on day 35. Ask what happens to items that do not sell within the 60 days — their site does not state the collection deadline for unsold goods.

Dealers who buy outright in London

Furniture, antiques and household goods bought on the spot. Fastest route, lowest price.

Yardigan's Estate Liquidation Services

Quote first May collect — ask
BuysWhole estate contents, Furniture, Collectibles, General household items with resale value, Storage unit contents
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealTheir services page describes an estate buyout: they are 'prepared to make a competitive cash offer for the estate in its entirety. One price and its all gone!' So this is one lump-sum purchase of everything rather than item-by-item pricing. They advertise a free assessment. They also run junk removal, downsizing and estate clean-out services alongside the buyout — their 'Junk Be Gone' service is framed as considering items with resale value instead of disposal fees. Make sure you know which service you are being quoted for and in which direction money is moving: a clean-out is a service you pay for, a buyout is money coming to you. Get the figure and the direction of payment in writing before anything leaves the house.
Where78 Firestone Blvd Unit 2, London, ON N5W 5L4
One price for everything means no itemised valuation, so anything genuinely valuable in the load is bought within the same lump sum.

Auction houses in London

They sell it for you to whoever bids. It can beat every other route here, and it can also fetch almost nothing — the price is decided in the room, not by them, and you find out weeks later.

Gardner Galleries

Consignment Bring it to them
BuysAuction-quality antiques, art and collectibles, Higher-value single pieces
Won't takeTotal consignments estimated under $2,000, Items already listed on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace, Individual general household furnishings — dining sets, prints, glassware, porcelain
The dealAn auction house on consignment terms, stated plainly on their How To Sell page: 'The standard commission rate is 25%.' Higher-value consignments may qualify for a reduced rate; lower-quality consignments may face a higher rate or be refused. 'The current minimum consignment value is $2,000, with exceptions at our discretion.' 'Payment is issued by cheque within 30 days of the auction's conclusion and mailed to the consignor's address on file, unless alternative arrangements have been made such as e-transfer.' Send photographs first for a preliminary assessment. They note 'The standard rate for professional cartage in London is approximately $150/hour + HST' — your cost, not theirs.
Where407 Hamilton Road, London, ON
This is the wrong door for an ordinary house clear-out: they decline consignments under $2,000 and items already listed on Marketplace or Kijiji. You wait for the auction, then up to 30 more days for the cheque, and 25% comes off.

Gold and jewellery buyers in London

Paid against the daily spot price, minus a margin almost nobody publishes.

Daniel A Jewellery

Buys outright Bring it to them
BuysGold jewellery — 10K, 14K, 18K and higher, Gold coins and bars, Diamonds and fine gemstones, Quality branded jewellery and watches
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealAn outright buyer working from a jewellery shop rather than a scrap counter. Their gold-buying page says testing is done with you present — they 'explain the karat and purity, and show you how the offer is calculated,' and say they will tell you if an item is worth more than its melt value. They claim they are 'often able to offer more than a bulk gold buyer' because they can resell quality pieces rather than scrap them — that is their own marketing claim, not an independently verified figure, and no payout percentage is published. They state there is 'never any obligation to sell' after a free evaluation, and that photo ID is required for any sale.
Where467 Wharncliffe Road South, Unit 3, London, ON N6J 2M8
Their claim to beat bulk gold buyers is a statement on their own site, not a verified rate. If a piece may be worth more as jewellery than as metal — a signed designer item, a good stone, a vintage watch — melting it cannot be undone, so it is worth a second opinion first.

London Gold Buyer

Buys outright Bring it to them
BuysGold jewellery, multiple karats, Silver jewellery, Platinum, Gold and silver bullion — coins and bars, Collectable gold coins
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealOutright purchase only. They describe themselves as 'Professional buyers and sellers of gold and silver jewellery, coins and bullion' — there is no lending or pawnbroking offered, so nothing is pledged and nothing is redeemed. They display live spot market prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium in USD and CAD. They do not publish the margin they take off spot, so ask for the offer as a dollar figure per gram at your item's karat and compare it against the spot price on the day. Appointment only: 'By appointment only. Please call 519-457-4653 or Book Online.'
Where475 Highbury Avenue, London, ON
A live spot ticker shows the metal price, not your price. The difference between the two is the business's margin and it is not published on their site. Weigh and photograph your items before you go, and ask for the per-gram figure in writing.

Scrap metal yards in London

Paid by weight and grade at the scale. Appliances, copper, aluminium, radiators.

AIM Recycling London

Paid by weight Not stated — ask
BuysSteel and iron, Household metals and appliances, Aluminium, Copper and brass, Wire, Batteries, Computer and electronic waste
Won't takeMaterials in their 'not accepted' category — the specific list is not detailed on their London page, Some materials accepted only conditionally
The dealPublic drop-off scrap yard, part of a national network. The London page lists what they take and separates materials into accepted, conditionally accepted and not accepted categories, but the specific conditional and prohibited items are not detailed on that page, and no rates or payment terms are published. Open Saturdays, which many yards are not.
Where2009 Gore Rd, London, ON N5V 5A9
Their London page flags conditional and prohibited material categories without listing the contents, and publishes no rates. Phone before loading to confirm they take what you have and what they pay for it.

John Zubick Limited

Paid by weight Not stated — ask
BuysScrap metals, Cars and tires, Electronics, Appliances
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealA public-facing scrap yard operating in London since 1946. They do post per-pound prices: their prices page was headed 'Updated September 23, 2026' and listed #1 Bright Copper at $8.35/lb, Yellow Brass at $5.40/lb and #1 Insulated Wire (DW) at $4.70/lb. Their stated disclaimer is that the listed prices 'are current indications only' and, where these differ from the yard, 'our yard prices will be deemed to be accurate.' For high-volume loads, industrial pricing, or items not listed, they ask you to call 519-451-5470.
Where105 Clarke Road, London, ON N5W 5C9
Their posted rates are described on their own page as indications only, with the yard's prices governing on the day. Their 24/7 household and electronics drop-off is listed separately from the scale — their site does not say whether that drop-off is paid, so go during scale hours if you expect payment.

London Salvage & Trading Co. Ltd.

Paid by weight Not stated — ask
BuysCopper, Brass, Aluminium, including wire and cans, Steel and other ferrous scrap, Cast iron, including radiators, Lead and stainless steel, End-of-life cars
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealYou are paid by weight against a posted price list, which is the unusual and useful part — they publish per-pound and per-ton rates, dated, on their prices page. The page was headed 'Yard Prices as of September 24, 2026' and listed bare bright copper at $8.3500/lb, #1 copper at $8.3000/lb, hard brass at $6.7500/lb, red brass at $6.5500/lb, aluminium wire at $2.3600/lb, clean aluminium beverage cans at $1.3000/lb, aluminium extrusion at $1.8200/lb and cast iron radiators at $295.00/nt. Their page states 'All prices are subject to change without prior notice,' so treat any figure as indicative and check the page the morning you go. For high-volume or long-distance loads they list 1-800-265-7897.
Where333 Egerton Street, London, ON
Metal pays by weight and grade, and the grading is done by them at the scale. Separating copper from aluminium from steel before you arrive is what moves the number. Posted prices are explicitly subject to change without notice.

Auto salvage and scrap cars in London

Non-running vehicles, usually towed free. Often the single most valuable thing on a property.

A&A Auto Recycling Inc.

Buys outright May collect — ask
BuysScrap and unwanted cars, Trucks, SUVs
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealThey buy end-of-life vehicles outright: 'A&A Auto Recycling buys all kinds and models of scrap and unwanted vehicles, including cars, trucks, and SUV's.' They advertise 'Free, Same-Day Pickup of Your Vehicle' and say you can 'Drop off your vehicle, schedule a date/time for pick-up, or arrange for same-day pick-up at no cost to you.' On payment: 'When we pick up the vehicle, we'll pay you cash on the spot!' No dollar amounts are published. Their site does not state what documents or identification they require, so confirm that on the phone before the truck is booked.
Where1859 Scanlan St, London, ON N5W 6C3
Get the quote confirmed before the truck arrives, and do not hand over keys or paperwork until you have been paid. Their site does not list the documents required — ask what they need when you book.

Book and record shops in London

They buy selectively. Most general paperbacks are worth nothing to anyone.

Grooves Records

Quote first Not stated — ask
BuysVinyl records, CDs, Music ephemera, Used audio equipment (Wortley Road location only)
Won't takeTitles that do not sell well, Extra copies of titles they already hold too many of, Water damaged, scratched or otherwise poor-condition items, DVDs — they state 'Grooves does not buy DVDs (movies)'
The dealThey buy from the public directly. Their we-buy page says they 'could potentially do "House Calls" for large collections or Collectibles collections,' so call before hauling boxes downtown. The page does not state whether they pay cash, store credit, or both, or at what proportion of resale value — ask when you go in.
Where236 Dundas Street, London, ON N6A 1H3
Their page states 'we are required by law to check government-issued photo ID when buying product,' so bring photo ID.

Odyssey Records

Quote first Not stated — ask
BuysUsed vinyl LPs and 45s, CDs, Cassettes, DVDs and Blu-rays, VHS tapes
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealThey buy used media from the public: 'We will buy your used media items, including vinyl LPs and 45s, CDs, cassettes, DVDs, Blu-Rays, and VHS tapes.' They say they 'pay top dollar for rare and obscure titles,' but publish no percentages or valuation formula, and do not state whether payment is cash, trade credit or a mix. For large collections, or to leave items for later evaluation, they ask you to 'call us at (519) 694-3665 to discuss your collection and schedule an appointment.'
Where1025 Elias Street, London, ON N5W 3P6
Their site states 'Government issued photo ID is required by law when selling used product to Odyssey Records,' so bring it. Payment form is not published — agree what you are getting, and in what form, before handing anything over.

Speed City Records

Quote first Not stated — ask
BuysRecords, Used CDs, Stereo and audio gear, Whole collections and estates
Won't takeNot stated on their site
The dealThey buy stacks, large collections and estates. Their sell-to-us page tells you to 'Call the shop before hauling boxes across town' rather than arriving unannounced, and says 'Paperwork for probate and insurance situations can also be provided when needed' — useful if you are clearing an estate. They describe giving 'a direct assessment based on condition, demand, format, and the kind of stock the shop can move.' The page does not state whether they pay cash or trade credit, or what proportion of resale value they offer.
Where294 Springbank Drive, London, ON N6J 1E9
Payment form is not published on their site. Agree what you are getting, and in what form, before you hand anything over.

Before you go

  • Take government photo ID. Several of these businesses say plainly that they cannot buy from you without it, and that a health card will not do.
  • Phone ahead with the specifics. Make, model, age, condition. Most refusals happen at the counter over something that could have been settled in a two-minute call.
  • Get more than one number if the item is worth more than a hundred dollars or so. Offers on the same item vary widely.
  • Ask which transaction you are being offered — a purchase, a consignment or a loan — and get it in writing.
We could not verify this city’s municipal rules for second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers from an official source, so we state none. Check with the City or the province before relying on anything you read about them elsewhere.

Worth nothing? That is a real answer too.

Most of what comes out of a cleared house will not sell at any price, and the businesses above will tell you so at the counter. Photograph it first and we will tell you before you drive anywhere — and if the answer is that it is worth nothing, we will point you at the London charities that will still take it.

Common questions

Will a pawn shop in London give me a loan or buy it outright?
Many do both, and they are entirely different transactions. A loan means you get the item back only if you repay the money plus interest and fees by the date on the ticket; miss it and the shop keeps and sells your item. An outright sale is final. Ask for both numbers separately and compare them.
How much will I actually get?
Less than you think, and nobody publishes a reliable average — we checked 189 businesses across fourteen cities. Consignment pays most and pays last. An outright sale pays least and pays today. Scrap and gold are weight and purity against the day’s market, minus a margin almost nobody states.
Will any of them collect from my house in London?
Auto salvage almost always tows a non-running car free. Some furniture dealers and consignment shops will collect, usually for a fee or above a minimum value. Scrap yards that advertise collection generally mean a commercial roll-off bin, not a van for a box of copper. Every listing here says what we could confirm and nothing more.
Do I need identification?
Almost certainly, and it is the most common cause of a wasted trip. Several businesses state plainly that government-issued photo ID is required and that a health card will not be accepted. Take a driving licence or passport.
What is genuinely worth nothing?
Flat-pack furniture, most paperbacks, encyclopedias, classical and easy-listening records, out-of-season sports equipment and adult clothing more than a few years old. The refusal lists on this page are the evidence. Those things can still be donated, and often should be.
